Tanzania's national parks, conservation areas, and marine environments are the foundation of what we offer. Their protection is essential to the future of tourism and to the species and ecosystems our guests come to see.

• Favour locally owned accommodations, guides, artisans, and experience providers where quality and safety standards are met.
• Encourage fair compensation and professional treatment of guides, drivers, lodge staff, and porters involved in your journey.
• Promote culturally sensitive visits to villages, markets, schools, and heritage sites with appropriate permissions and guidance.
• Discourage intrusive photography, unwanted gifts to children, or behaviour that undermines local dignity or customs.
• Support initiatives that strengthen community livelihoods, education, and cultural preservation when aligned with our values and vetted for impact.

Tourism inevitably uses energy, water, and materials. While we cannot eliminate that footprint, we work to reduce waste and make thoughtful operational choices.

Our itineraries depend on a network of lodges, camps, transport providers, activity operators, and guides. Partner selection balances guest comfort, safety, reliability, value, and responsibility.

Responsible travel is a shared effort. We invite every guest to travel with curiosity, patience, and respect. Before and during your trip, we encourage you to:

• Follow guide and park instructions at all times, especially around wildlife, swimming, hiking, and boat activities.
• Pack out litter and avoid leaving waste in parks, beaches, or villages.
• Use reef-safe sunscreen where appropriate and avoid damaging coral, vegetation, or archaeological sites.
• Ask permission before photographing people and respect requests for privacy.
• Buy local crafts and services ethically; bargain respectfully in markets.
• Conserve water and energy in lodges, especially in areas where resources are limited.
• Choose travel insurance that supports emergency medical care and evacuation if needed.

For Kilimanjaro and other trekking experiences, we support operators that comply with park regulations and recognised porter welfare guidelines, including fair wages, load limits, proper equipment, and adequate food and shelter for mountain crews.

If you are booking a climb through us, we are happy to explain how operator selection, tipping guidance, and pre-climb briefings are handled for your specific route and season.

Guests sometimes wish to donate to schools, clinics, or conservation projects. While generosity is welcome, unstructured giving can create dependency or unintended harm.

Where possible, we direct support through established local organisations, community leaders, or vetted projects rather than ad hoc handouts. If you wish to contribute during or after your trip, contact us and we can suggest responsible options aligned with your interests.

We are building a more structured approach to sustainability reporting, including stronger partner screening, guest education materials, and tracking of initiatives we support.
